Our Commitment to Privacy
PhUSE takes your right to privacy seriously, and we want you to feel comfortable in using our website and app. To better protect your privacy, we are providing this Policy to explain our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used.
The Information We Collect
In general, you can visit our website without telling us who you are or revealing any personal information. There are times, however, when we may need information from you. Personal information like your name, email address and/or address is obtained only when voluntarily submitted, for example when registering for an event, submitting an abstract, completing the enquiry form via the website, or becoming a member of the Society.
How We Use Your Information
PhUSE will use your personal information to fulfil information requests and event registration submissions made online and to provide other services that you ask for. Your email address will also be used to provide you with updates for any events that you have registered for.
Administration of our site includes maintaining and tracking usage through web server logs. Web server logs provide information such as what types of browsers are accessing our site, which pages receive high traffic, and the times of day our servers experience significant load. Technical information such as details about your device and IP address may be collated when you use the PhUSE site. We use this information to improve the content and navigation features of our site and provide you with a better visitor service.
How We Collect Your Information
This information may be collected via:
- the PhUSE Membership area on the website
- providing technical support
- the PhUSE app
- completing the enquiry form on the website.
How We Share Your Information
We will not sell, rent or lease your personally identifiable information to others. PhUSE reserves the right to disclose any pertinent customer information to the police, as we, in our sole discretion, believe necessary or appropriate.
PhUSE provides a delegate list to each registered attendee and sponsor that attends an event. The delegate list contains the first and last name, country and registration type (delegate, sponsor, Chair, etc.) of each attendee. Should you not wish to be included on the delegate list you have the choice to opt out on the relevant event registration page. Should you choose to opt out it will not be possible for you to receive a delegate list prior to or on the day of that event.
There are various technologies, including "cookies", which can be used to provide tailored information from a website. On our site and app, cookies may be used to remember certain choices you make, such as your geographical region, your username or other personalisation or customisation. We use these cookies to improve your user experience so that we can better serve you when you return to our site.
Personalised URLs and Personalised Message Content
On occasion we may create a unique URL. If you visit one of these sites, you may find forms that already contain your name and/or other information you have previously indicated an interest in, based on details that you provided us with. This information will also be used to personalise the content of newsletters and emails.
Links to third-party websites from the PhUSE website are provided solely as a convenience to you. Using these links will direct you away from the PhUSE website. We have not reviewed these third-party sites and do not control them. PhUSE does not assume responsibility for any of these sites, their content, or their privacy policies. PhUSE does not endorse or make any representations about them or any information, software or other products or materials found there, or any results that may be obtained from using them. If you decide to access any of the third-party sites linked to the PhUSE site, you do so at your own risk.
Opting Out of Communications
PhUSE is an independent, not-for-profit organisation run predominantly by volunteers; a global membership organisation and platform for the discussion of topics encompassing the work of data managers, biostatisticians, statistical programmers and eClinical IT professionals. PhUSE exists to share knowledge, best practice and encourage collaboration across all companies.
As such, PhUSE will contact its members via a limited number of emails providing the following information:
- regional events (dates, topics and opportunity to submit papers)
- global events (dates, topics and opportunity to submit papers)
- PhUSE newsletters.
All members have the opportunity to unsubscribe from receiving further correspondence, at the bottom of each email. Please note that where you have registered for an event, you will continue to receive emails relating to that event and it is not possible to opt out. Where you choose to opt out you will not be contacted once the event has taken place.
All correspondence relating to registered events will be sent using our website mailshot system. Information such as PhUSE newsletters and event listings will be sent via a new mailshot system, Zoho. At PhUSE, our ethos is on knowledge sharing and we hope that you will continue to subscribe to receiving information from us.
Our Commitment to Data Security
PhUSE is concerned about the security of your information. To prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the appropriate use of information, we have put in place reasonable procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect and store online. We use encryption technology when collecting or transferring sensitive data such as credit card information. This information is used to process membership or conference fees and is not used for any other purpose.
