PHUSE Pune SDE by Chair Abhishek Ghosh

When the uncertainties surrounding COVID-19 hit us, we were left with only two choices to make. The easy option was to call off the Pune SDE and the difficult option was trying to host the event virtually, for the very first time.

The easy option is never a choice for clinical research professionals, who on a daily basis challenge the status quo in the quest of a scientific breakthrough.

It was natural for us to plunge into unknown territory and to take the path less travelled. The odds were high; after all, hosting a virtual daylong event with a large audience had many unknowns.

The Pune SDE event took place virtually on 25th April as planned, with over 840 people registered and over 550 in attendance. The day consisted of nine presentations, an engaging Q&A session and a buzz around many of the social media platforms. We could not have asked for more.

As the SDE Chair, this was extremely satisfying and I’d like to extend a big thank you to all our sponsors for their patronage, to Jayapandian, Sarvesh, Shrishaila and everyone in the PHUSE Organizing Committee, for their efforts. My sincere thanks to all the eminent speakers for their thought-provoking and engaging presentations and most importantly to all the attendees who stayed with us online, all day long. Without their unconditional support, this event would not have been a success.

Re-energised, with this deep sense of connection and fraternity feeling, PHUSE will build on this success for the upcoming virtual events. We look forward to your continued support.
