Christian Mueller - F. Hoffmann-La Roche

Christian Mueller holds a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Lausanne (1995) and a MSc in Applied Statistics from the University of Neuchatel (1997), both Switzerland. During his PhD and MSc he held different assignments in academia, as scientific assistant at the University of Lausanne and Duesseldorf, Germany. Main activities consisted in biological research, teaching medical students in biochemistry and statistics, as well as performing SAS programming on University sponsored clinical studies and providing statistical consulting support to the medical department.

In 1997 Christian joined the Pharmaceutical Industry (Novartis) in Statistics supporting Clinical Development. He supported various Oncology projects as a statistician ranging from Phase I to Phase III and with increasing responsibility over time (1997-2004). In 2001 Christian spent 6 months in India setting up a statistical programming group in Mumbai (India) for Novartis with 17 hires direct off graduation. Since then he has maintained professional contacts to the Statistical Programming environment in India in various form. In 2004, a position of heading the global statistical reporting group in the safety area has been offered to him at Novartis.

Since then he has devoted his career entirely to management responsibilities in the statistical programming area, supporting global project resourcing, performing strategic planning (e.g. standardization projects) and consulting project programming teams. Christian joined F. Hoffmann – La Roche (Roche) in 2007 where he currently holds the position of the Statistical Programming Group Head in Basel, Switzerland.
