Before I start – I just want to emphasize that everyone is entitled to at least one boring Blog post. Well, this is mine. Apologies up front. I did have good intentions, however. I was even going to start it off with some experiences I had in the jungles of South America...
For efficient working more and more supporting tools like SAS macro systems or graphical tools are bought or developed. But how "good" or "bad" a system is depends on the users. Will the system support the users in their work flow? Will it be more efficient than the established processes? Will the system get accepted? So how to make our users happy to support our systems?
This is always a little controversial topic in every company, not because of whether its good or bad, but because it ruffles the feathers and people feel the company is trying to change or eliminate their roles. However, if specialisation is addressed properly then the reality would be a healthy mixture which will benefit all the employees and the organisation.
In Greek mythology there is a creature called the Hydra. I am going to admit that I am not a student of Greek mythology, so my understanding is purely based on corny movies from the 1970s and 80s. With that disclaimer, please excuse my colorful misrepresentation – but none-the-less, the Hydra will suit my purpose. Anyway – the Hydra is a multi-headed creature...

What made us successful yesterday won’t make it tomorrow!” Outsource, merge, offshore, streamline, standardize and align! Sounds familiar? Where does that leave the programmer?...
