The Society
The ethos of the society follows that of the conference – it will be based around the sharing of knowledge and the progression of the applied computer programming discipline within the Pharmaceutical and Health Care Industries.
The membership package does not only offer great value for money but the different aspects of membership will appeal to both programmers and statisticians whether they are employed in Pharmaceuticals, Biotech or Service Provider Companies, or as independent contractors and consultants.
Why subscriptions?
The PhUSE committee felt that the success of the conference showed that there was a need for more support for programmers within the pharmaceutical industry. We have looked at similar societies and the services they provide, and felt that there were many aspects which were relevant for programmers that were not currently available.
Unfortunately in order to be able to provide those PhUSE needs to levy a subscription to fund the administration of the society.
Note that society members attending the October conference (which will of course continue) will receive a discount greater than the price of the subscription.
How much does it cost?
Subscriptions are set at £60 per member. This is comparable to similar societies in the UK (PSI, ACDM), which offer similar services to those planned by PhUSE. Please see attached 2010 Membership fees document for more details.
